I have made several versions of this awesome and intriguing design.

Interlocking is the best word to describe it. 3 comments on tutorial. A tessellation quilt i created during an online quilting class. This quilt had to be created one block at a time using a design wall.

Since then the variety has been downsized to 100. Tessellating stars i have made a tessellating stars quilt multiple times in the past 25 years. You can see 4 red stars and a gold one in the center. I made this quilt three years ago using 63 of the different prints.

I drew up a draft of the pattern on paper and colored it in for reference in order to assemble the finished blocks with ease. The edge of one block forms the edge of the other block. I m also making one of these tessellating star patterns using batiks and black. The only thing that could of made it prettier would of been if i had used the 150 colors available at the time.

Of all the quilts i ve ever made this was the first and only one where i needed a draft. For me it was challenging to visualize it on my own without the reference. Tessellating stars free pattern.
