The mine and plant are located on aboriginal freehold land that is owned by the warlpiri people and managed on their behalf by the central desert aboriginal lands trust. The granites is a gold mine in the tanami desert of the northern territory of australia. The mine was commissioned in 1986 and has produced more than ten million ounces moz of gold to date.
